Hi Ottawa_Nerd,
I m earning 50 k INR per month. Let me tell u my expense.
House rent : Rs 6000
( just two bedroom flat in gurgaon)
Car petrol cost: Rs 3000( petrol ZEN)

Income tax: : Rs 9000

( that too despite investing in income tax saving schemes around Rs 60000 per annum)

Kids education : nil ( as kid is small but expect Rs 1000 pm to get him in any public school plus donation)

food etc: Rs 3000

Any fun loving place movie with wife (just two people)
Rs 500

So u can save around Rs 25000 pm. With this u can go ahead & purchase whatever asserts u want to make .

Yeah by the way, free dust ,filth beggars, traffic chaos, water tap dry, no electricity in summer May-july). Working like dog from 9 to 9 all will be free with this package.

Further drive in Delhi, u will know how pleasant it is to drive, will make ur life longer.

Also in case u want ur wife too to work. Better make sure she too have qualifications that enable her to work only on that jobs that are out source to India. Else be prepare for Rs 2500-4000 per month job for her. Be it teaching, nursing if doctor okay may be Rs 7000-8000 in nearby clinic.

Cheers come back ,don't complain sitting in Canada. there are thousands waiting in line to came to Canada.

It appears to me that many of those who complain about Canada forgotten what real India is, take many +ve things over there granted, miss India a lot simply because they have not seen India for a while. I suggest if you visit India you will once again feel better that you are in Canada. It happens to me working in Dubai, everytime I miss India, think +ves of India, keep thinking I will do this or that, however once I am there I thank my stars for me being in Dubai.

Try to be on an extended holiday say 3 to 6 months and see how people struggle. All the statistics GDP,Per capita, Feel good, booming IT, BPO cannot be felt by ordinary Indian. However if you have capital, contacts,Technical knowhow perhaps you can consider moving there. However if you intend to pick up just another job....I am sure ....soon you will once again... start complaining.....

Biomed,
Good article ...one feels great to see where india is headed . what a great thing to be proud of .

one thing which i would like to differ is that i would not "pump up new immigrants and say "pack your bag and move to india"...yes i'd say that if i was doing it myself....one should lead by example ....and not be like the general who chickens out in taking the leap himself but and encourages others to jump.

life is no a bed of roses in india as well if one has to start from the scratch, .... we would be more successful in meeting the goals of this site if we try to help and encourage new immigrants who are here in finding their foothold here itself rather than telling them to go back and probably face more hardships..

lets lead by example not by rhetoric

Well MI all I can say...it is your very own way you see my posts. You normally miss the main idea behind my posts. :D

The person who goes back would not be interested in this forum at all, may be you have not seen people going back to India but I have seen them and not one or two ... quite a few... now I am sure you are not gonna ask their addresses in India, are you?:D

Thanks and regards.
Biomed

Val, yeah sitting from Canada its easy to comment as I *actually* see what ppl are facing here, in person and on TV also. If you have access to CBC TV on your cable you would have seen the experience of 1 desi doctor from Mumbai. He came to Canada with high hopes..etc etc.. He was a reputed surgeon in Mumbai ( and I guess he must be earning much more than you ).. He also had everything but his reason for coming to Canada was "I've got to give a proper education for my children".. He landed here (Edmonton to be precise), and guess what.. started his job as a Hamburger flipper ! Apparently he passed all his exams, yet he is not "qualified" enough to be enrolled in the residency program. In fact his manager at the hamburger shop even admitted on national TV that she would like to visit him in the near future...as her personal doctor !
I am not making this up, and every desi who stay here, and have seen CBC can vouchsafe for that fact. Its so very difficult for new immigrants, esp in the medical profession, to be accepted. You have to struggle here, and I mean real struggle, before you can acheieve anything.
If you read my post, I said that both spouses were earning. I dont think you have mentioned that. If, say your wife is also earning money like you..You really have a decent income there.
As for coming here.. You are more than welcome to come here. As I stated before, this site is meant for information purposes only, you may choose to accept it or choose to reject it; I am a bachelor so I wouldnt know abt kids/wives..and as for Jobs.. I anyways have made up my mind to move out from Ottawa

Biomed , i enjoy your punchback replies...esp when you miss my points as well ....hope you dont take it to heart .. my responses are all good intentioned and i totally respect your views ...even tho i may differ.

you are right ...a person going back to india may not be interested in this site but there are plenty who are struggling and on the edge , unsure if they made they should go or stay ...such people do rely on this site for some support or encouragement to help them hangin there thru their struggles ....everyone fights his own battles al we do here is enocurage each other to keep up the spirit.

posts like yours paints a very rosy picture of india .......just like candanian consultants in india paint a rosy picture of canada .
yes there are great things happenning in india but one must not lose the
big picture of what a common man goes thru there
that is where i disagree with you ..
please read infocan's post on this thread again ...you will understand what i am trying to say..

and btw ..when you pack your bags to go to india , please let us know we will come to see you off at the airport ..

PS : i hope you dont take it personally ....i hope it is taken in light hearted debaters spirit

I *actually* see what ppl are facing here, in person and on TV also.

You watch too much TV! You take few personal experiences, validate with what shown on TV and believe this to be true across the board.

Its so very difficult for new immigrants, esp in the medical profession, to be accepted.

Once new immigrant medical dr. receive proper certifications and credentials, they actually thrive and do better than majority of immigrant population.

You have to struggle here, and I mean real struggle, before you can acheieve anything.

I will love to find out where on earth I don't have to struggle to achieve something.

While your arguments are right, the basic difference lies in the fact that those professionals who have migrated to Canada after a stringent test, were, and are, ABOVE THE common in India, while HERE they are (considered, though actually not so) BELOW the commom.
