S'apen Kap? I don't know where you read that I got me a successful story. I ain't got one. What i need are successful stories to be pasted here to pump me up. If someone else can do it- to me kisise kum nahin!

Pramod has all the right to paste this story, but I think he should also paste success stories and give 2 sides of the picture, not just one- gives a biased viewpoint. I kinda imagine that he pasted this story jes' to let immigrants know that things can go awry, that like Canada ain't no bed o' roses (well actually it is with tons of thorns!). ANYWAY I AM STILL AWAITING HIS COMMENTS. Not for us to conjecture why he pasted it.

With or without this story you kin bet yer bottom dollar the immigrants will come in droves and keep on comin' and keep on comin'- so why even paste this asinine story is beyond me.

Ok folks, somewhere along this thread somebody wanted to know what is the ratio of winners to losers here in Canada. Defining a winner as one who is better off here than in India (or Latin America since I deal with a lot of these people as well) and a loser as one who is worse off than in their place of origin, this is my estimate.

80 % are winners
10 % are so so
10 % are losers

Bear in mind this takes into account all types not just MS and Phd holders. I am a financial advisor and have clients from all walks of life. Everytime I talk to them all the majority can say is that they are better off financially here than they could dream of in their country of origin. Some even say they used eat from “patas” (leaves or “hojas” in Spanish) and here they eat from a plate. They have 60 in HDTV’s here to watch DVD’s or videos of their choice instead of going to a local market to watch somebody else’s choice on a 14 in TV. Etc etc you know the story. I am sure you folks without even asking but just looking at some of the types who come here from “gaons” (“pueblos” in Spanish)will agree that they will be thinking they are in heaven. Some of the Indians I have as clients not only are illiterate in English but their knowledge of Hindi is minimal. They are fluent in Punjabi, Telugu, Marathi etc. I have also talked to Advisors from the Philipines and China and even they agree, as the majority of the immigrants coming in are still from the family or sponsorship category, they are better off here. Even they say that some who come here on points system have bought their degrees there for the equivalent of $30 -$300 depending if they come from a rural area or a big city.

Anyway, since I imagine you are talking about people who come here with genuine degrees and work experience in their field- a poll conducted within this group must be initiated. Unfortunately I do not have numbers on this. But just on an informal basis and from this forum and from the newspapers and other media I imagine there is a large absolute number of disgruntled professionals, something that the government must address.

However looking at it on the whole and judging from the percentage of immigrants who settle here and don’t go back, it would seem people would rather be here than in their country of origin. But here I am uttering a platitude.
