Going thru this article was a painful reality check. Yet spent a lot of time trying to find ways to negate his observations, However, his views I would not agree with all.
A lot of us are caught in that "Catch 22" situation. Whether we label it our pride or lack of guts to do the "unthinkable".
I feel sorry for Ghulam Rasool ....... but the irony is that we all live it from time to time.
I always call Canada one of the largest Unofficial Socialist countries and beauty of it is.... the system gets away with a lot of crap.
Call it "emotional whims" or wat ever you may....... but we should seriously think of doing something about it. Maybe start a info chain thru the media, ( play the game according to "their" rules ). A bunch of us can make a difference...... although it may be futile for the present..... but definately evolve over time and might make a difference for our kids or the next generation.
yeh sab kitabee batein naheen hain........ ho sakta hai keh koee faraq daal sakein......... aik soch hai.
If fate requires the sacrifice of a Ghulam Rasool ...... so be it ..... let's do something about it.
p.s.
Mr. Entrepreneur ...... your remark / statement / outburst , I personnaly think is in bad taste. Although luck has not much to do with it... but count your stars you have not had to go thru the hell some others have had to. Although I count myself among the successful immigrants but I had to go thru the "Meast grinder" to get there. Whereas to some it comes harder than others.

Family grieved and in debt, but country richer! Make money in every way is the country's policy. An immigrant cannot afford insurance so he cannot afford to die! This is a trap.

I feel like crying, and I cry in pain everyday seeing old man , as old as 55 years going for labour job in factory at 7 P.M. IN evening and comes back early in the morning at 5 a.m. after long travel just to survive. though he may be a scientist back home from a reputable university in India.
This is what canada has got to give. ... I pray god that this country one fine day become full of strip tease clubs, bar girls and pizza delivery boys with no industry. This is a tale of all the immigrants whether they tolerate it silently or with voice. Whatever way the pain is same.
Sorry guys for me being so depressed after reading this thread. I feel all such aged Indians working in survival jobs in canada needs to have good life back home with their kids and grand children rather suffering here in all pains for few dollars without any love and affection .......

I have recently visited this column and it is really painful to know the situation of Ghulam Rasool how he has gone back to India after struggling hard for 5 years and wasting all his hard earned money in India at this so called best place to live on the earth. I am absolutely in the same lines as the biomed agree that 95% of immigrants are in the same boat and this is the real Canada for most of the immigrants. It is absolutely right said that this country need professional labor and their hard earned savings from their own country to fuel the Canadian economy and that is what happened with Gulam Rasool. Mr. Blue lobster it is possible that you might be one of the few persons who got a good luck to find a good job without struggle but most of people are still searching for the right job even after 5-10 years of landing. As you say that there would not be so many immigrants in Canada, they would all go back is probably you could not think about their problems. Do you think Gulam Rasool will be happy after he has gone back to India? No and it is possible that he may have to come back again after some time as he would have already lost his previous job in India and at this age he will not find a good job in India as well. Here at least he can do a job of a laborer but in India he cannot do that too as it will be against the dignity there. Here at least no body to see what you are doing. I am here too because I have left my job in India. I did a mistake 6 years back and I have to reap the fruit for what I sowed at that time. I have to keep a harmony to live because of my kids so that they can live a good life. The sacrifice I am doing for them and that is the real situation with those 95% people who don’t go back. IT IS NOT TRUE THAT THEY DON’T WANT TO GO BACK BUT THE REAL PROBLEM IS THAT THEY HAVE BURNT THEIR BOATS IN WHICH THEY CAME HERE SO HOW TO GO BACK.

Mass of people who are working ODD job are not visiting this forum otherwise you can get true answer, why they are not going back?
For skywalker- If you think my statement is in bad taste- so be it. I am from Corprorate India and have worked in Corporate Canada at levels where I brainstorm with the Veeps, Prezes and CEOs and quite frankly i have no compassion for losers!
Instead of Ghulam's downer of a story what people need is the success story of Sharda Batra, Ujjal Dosanjh and other winners. How come Pramod did not put these articles from the Voice. Why not even print the letters in response to this article. Esp one from a Vibha and Amol Gandhe- two people from Mumbai-same place as Ghulam and same placed as me-who in five years are earning a 6 figure income and have bought two homes in Mumbai for their parents. Aise log zindabad!
Those are the stories we need to comment on not Ghulam's- I don't need his loser story.
Mr Pramod- Brother, aap ne koi comment diya nahin hai lakin pura public ka to par liya hai. Or do you bother to visit this thread after you dumped a dumb story , instead just letting everybody waste their energy on a loser!

thank your lucky stars you were not born in sudan or ethiopia... those people ARE starving in REALITY... atleast you have bread and water...
------------------------------------------------------------------------
So we all came here with PH.D, Masters to earn bread and water by way of cleaning bedsheets in whorehouses or delivering pizzas? what was the need to travel 12000 over kms that too after paying 3500 $ for ticket?
3500 $ ticket could have got you bread and water (without butter) for 10 years in India....ha..ha...
Get reasonble dear. let us see what Canada is giving us and what we are giving to canada!!!
