Hello every one,

First id like to say it was very sad to hear the story.

Third he was here for five years he should have educated himself OSAP people after one year you can make use of it.

God bless us all

----------------------------------------------------------

Hi JK,

Do you have any idea why they offer OSAP after one year?

Its a child common sense that people need OSAP loan on arrival to Canada to upgrade their education where education is very very costly.

Why Canadian Government is restricting those immigrants for OSAP facility?

Any Idea? What will new immigrant do during their first year?

I am agree people have to upgrade whatever their skills according to Canadian education system, but tell me Is it fair to start from "0" ?

Accounting standards are all most same in the World excepts some North American standard, If Canadian Government really wants to help new immigrants then there should be special Upgrade course for Indian or other Chartered Accountants which cover the lession of North American accounting standards and give them Canadian Accountant Certificate.

Canadian Government just thinking about How can they support the Private University to fill up their seats.

Hello every one Thanks for reading my thoughts.

now to answer you question my friend people have to live in Ontario for at least one year to apply for OSAP thats not just for immigrants its for everyone even some one moving into toronto from B.C or montreal or quebec.

Now this is not just for OSAP its for any kind of loan or government relief program in any part of the world where the government offers relief programs for their residents or citizens.

The reason humm well until you havent lived their for atleast one year in ON in this case your not really a resident or a citizen. you havent contributed towards the place to reep the benifits.

Just because you got your landed papers and biught your ticket and got on the plane doesnt mean you deserve the benifits yet OSAP is not Right of a person it is privilage to people who need money to get an education and have worked or their parents have worked in the providence for at least one year same going for collecting money if you get laid off dont have an income you will only get mney from the government if you have put in a certain amount of hours and paid you dues not working for cash and saying hell with taxes ther too high.

Canada government doesnt promise immigrants anything except that they can come here and start a new life. if your a refugee the government does help a little bit more.

The Canadian Government didnt approve you landed papers so you can come here and be a liability on them they approved you paper work and allowed you to enter the country because they thought you were worth enough and would be able to help the economy/ country in some way.

--------------------------

Thanks JK,

Now, you are right.

Canadian Governement is not BEST what you people believed.

You have not answered about what the new immigrants will do for their First year?

Without job, new immigrants cant build credit history for OSAP loan and for that they have to work without upgrading their education and where to go for work? Odd job / Factory job, what the Canadian Governement need? Out of 100, only 3 to 5 people can come out from these type of ODD job.

The ratio for Canadian economy added new jobs every year and flow of skill/professional immigrants is very negative. Even though Canadian Government continuously invites the immigrants for their benefits, unfortunately immigrants realise after coming here.

Kap sorry to see you dont agree.
well first iv been right not now but since i shared my first view with all of you.
second Canadain government is much better than Indian government , from what i understand,
and offers a lot more not only to its residents and citizens but also its new immigrants than indian government has ever had to offer

Third kap when you applied to migrate to canada do you remember anyone saying to you at the Canadian consulate that sir your going to get special treatment because your going to be a new immigrant .

maybe you didnt read the whole message i posted everyone has to live here for atleast one year in order to apply for OSAP.
so what people do in that first year is their decision???? which will shape their future in this countr. how they paln to do????

As far as applying for osap you dont need to have a credit history its know as a student loan kids who graduate from highschool qualify for it so im sure if a person works somewhere anywhere. to support themselfs for that first year will qualify for it.

Im not sure how fimiliar people are with OSAP but it the amount of funds a person qualifies for depends on their circumstanses lets if you live alone, or are a single parent depending on a lot of things the gov gives you money with which you can study accomidate and feed yourself.

1. People in India get false hopes and dreams of money on trees when they see Canadian Desi's in India. They forget, however, these are vacationing Desi's who clearly can afford the trip....no one goes on vacation to save money. Therefore, the average Indian has the impression that money is everywhere in Canada. They forget that revenue and costs go hand in hand.

2. The story is sad indeed, and I don't doubt that this person tried his best. But do new immigrants think of trying their luck out of town...out of urban areas? Many immigrants who bite the bullet and leave the urban settings manage to find gainful employment. There are lots of jobs in Canada's north that no one wants......Ft. McMurray, Whitehorse, Yellowknife.

It may be a more solitary life outside the GTA or Vancouver or Calgary or Montreal, with no Indian community and samosa stores, but there are lots of jobs outside of the urban mecca's. New immigrants shouldn't expect to enjoy the luxury of a large indian community and also expect to land high paying jobs in the same locations.

Yes by keeping this story in some other place , you will be able to give better facts about canada!! Why you guys want to run away from the truth. It is good if everyone knows the real fact. What if they feel negative after coming to Canada and if they do not before coming. it is all one and the same. But if these people knows in advance ,they can take better decision. But you cannot keep some one in dark by any means.

What ever it is facts will remains facts whether you want to hide it or not. The truth will always appear sooner or little later.

cheers

Orginally posted by nicefolks20 Very good point i agree nicefolks20 try moving out of toronto where gst and pst and cpp and ei 15% taxes are lower and rents are cheaper and car insurence is cheaper and wages are higher.

You think how many can go to Mcmurray , whitehorse, yellowknife when those places are economically very low. When there is too much scarcity for jobs in places like booming toronto then not to talk about whitehorse and yelloknife.... may be few jobs, but do you think that is enough.

if it is enough then let us all move from toronto to above areas.
