What is the best time to land in Canada on skilled worker immigration visa (PR). Will October/November be okay or will it be too cold and snowy? Most probably, I will be landing in Toronto area.

Well said canadian_desi2003!

Raj, you can come in October, but not later than that!

Snow is one reason - another one is - after 15 december people will be in holidays mood and it lasts for one month - so you might not get good job opportunites.

Hey Congrats Raj!

My question is on similar context. I will be receiving my stamped passport in a short as I got approved status on my CIC account with document no, etc. and its showing 20 june 2018 as expiry date.

I dont want to waste much time here in India and land ASAP, but due to my cousin marriage in december, is thinking of early Feb,2018.

will that be a good time to land in there, and also where will be better near Vancouver area BC or near Toronto area Ont. as m having friends at both places who may help in early days.

Stay in India if you have a good job.

Only come here if you want to do low level minimum wage physical labour jobs. Canada doesn't care about your Indian education and/or qualification.

Also your friends in Toronto & Vancouver are going to do nothing for you once you come here..you have been warned.

They won't wait to kick you out of their house, you will be lucky if they even come to the airport to pick you as Parking at the airport is expensive & they don't even want to pay that, that's how cheap Canadian people are .

Any time/day/month is a best time to land in Canada. I landed in January, when the snow covered the whole city, was still able to find a job and get going. The sooner you do, the sooner you get settled.

As for the cities, go to Toronto as the Economic activity is in a much bigger scale there as compared to Vancouver. Although, IT has been booming for a quite some time in latter, the quality of jobs and the number of Headquarter/big corporations are way less in Vancouver than Toronto. Matters to me a lot, not sure about you.

The only thing that gets going in Vancouver's favor is the relatively good weather with less/no snow as per Canadian standards and an opportunity to enjoy a great outdoor/recreational activities. It's a beautiful place surrounded by Ocean and snow clad Mountains all year around. Much cleaner than Toronto as well, and better commuting for its size. But, of-course you pay for all this through your neck in terms of housing (even an hour from Downtown). The average house here doesn't cost less than a Million Dollar.

So, just take these factors into account. The city and the entire region is beautiful though. Skytrain (Metro) is much better connected than the TTC subway in Toronto, but the latter also has GO with much better connectivity. So, your takeaway is what you desire per your own liking, favorability; and what you could save/afford.

Good luck!

Edit: Contrary to some posters, I am yet to find a single Indian immigrant in my 12 years that hasn't settled well in Canada and is not doing better. In any case, you have only your own to make decisions taken your own circumstances into account. People (like me) could only provide with the anecdotal experience. You experience by your own and many factors do contribute to your own success/failure.

Its not easy to work as a security guard or drive a cab or do pizza delivery in January.

If he gets an indoor warehouse job as a Coolie, things might be slightly easy.

But overall its hard to do these jobs in Winter, so I would advise him to come in April, when Winter is over.

Anyway let him come here & find out the hard way, what the Winter wasteland & frozen Tundra is all about, just like the other immigrants before him.
