The difficultis in India are not only in India. It is in many countries even some developed countries also. Do not forget the situation at Katrina time. That part of state is still facing problem. No one is helping to them.I heard about road blockage in all major city of canada.Even samll city ( small when I see population of Indian city) Calgary is city of 1 Million People, and some time trafiic even during week end sucks.
When there is snow . no one clear the roads and u are driving with full chances of accident. And the thing is that u have to go to work otherwise u will not paid and there is potential job loss if u do this frequently.
As mentioned in earler post, many people are not in favour to come this side. They are getting better salary, easy going life, and all modern facilties in India.
Whereas things have remained same here , they have progressed exponentially in India in certain areas esp outsourcing . -So its more tempting to return back now then it was a decade back .
Since the gross income levels are low in India , if you return to a high income job , chances are - you will be very rich relatively and can enjoy facilities like maid , driver , servant etc .
But you must try to stay away from the main stream systems (which is inevitable) to save you from frustrations.
I sometimes visualize staying in an up scale suburban / urban area - having a chauffeured a/c car , a secured gated colony and shopping on weekends - this way I lead a comfortable life , enjoy all the Indian ness I miss here and stay away from the main streams as much as I can . You do not have to get a property transferred every day.
Dont tell me that the rich in India are not already leading this life .
But I will take my own time and space and so must you.

Fido.
Was very much in Canada during the first half of 2007. This was my second visit after the first one in 2004 end (just only for a few months) went awry. Had self suspicion whether "I did not try enough" and things like that. My worst fears came true. Based on my experience, I can only tell the system of immigration is so designed to create a perennial reservoir for low end jobs. If someone is fed up and accuses they can always turn around say "we did not send you an invitation, you came yourself". Now that I am back in India to be with my near and dear ones gives me great relief. Could find a job as Manager New Product Development working on polymers like NBR, EPDM ,CR and their blends to make rubber components for automobile industry. What are these polymers? Never mind, Canada asked me "How much can you lift? 25lbs, 35lbs or 50lbs?" Was really appreciated for learning the job and picking up fast - that of cleaning tables on the first day I worked in an Indian restaurant.
One big stumbling block for newcomers to succeed is that the private enterprises there do not have any social commitment, even though the land is made up of only immigrants. What the Immigration Ministry utters that Canada is need of skilled people, win-win situation and things like that is sheer non-sense Living in Mississauga, could see vehicles hurtling down Hy10 come Friday afternoon as if there was never going to be a Monday again. .Must be the same everywhere else. People simply do not have any time for those who are struggling or trying to move up.

I wrote this to another forum, I am writing this again in short.
take you time and read carefully
In India no matter what is your social status your quality of life is good the amount you pay for transport+food+vegetable+fruit+medical system you get good value for everything.
but if you are Riksha puller or cook in road side hotel then if you come to Canda/USA definitely your quality of life will improve but if you are professionally qualified and working same job in India as you do here your quality of life will be high no matter what you earn(even if you are earning 15,000/month).
For Qualified people the quality of life can not be high in Canada/USA until unless you have fraud degree
Here is some of the reason people give to migrate here, and then I have explaintion
1) Better Quality of life
Is there any life exist apart from better road condition? How can be quality of life better here.I haven't born with silver spoon in my mouth but in India I nver cooked my food, Never clean my house and washed my cloths never ever drove my Car.
Foods Quality starting from snack, fruit, juice, food in restaurant nothing is better here.Tim Horton can never provide the quality of Chai you can get in India with reasonable price.
Medical facility is the one of the best in India.
2)Better Job opportunity
Intel,GE,IBM has research Lab in India same job opportunity. People come here live atleast 4-5 guys in one apartment half of time spent cooking their food, another form of slavery do you call this better job opportunity.
How many vinod dham we generated so far even every year 100 000 India coming to Canada/USA.
3)Children future
school education is best in India. when it comes to MS or Phd then I can agree but for that there is no need of migration of parents.
How many second generation Indian are successful in USA though millions of India living here.
children future is one of the crap justification.ask the parents how they feel when their daughter start living with their BF without marriage, then go and ask same parents was this career you wanted for you children???
I think you one enjoys better services in India for lesser price because the economy is developed that way - its meant for the masses and due to increased population services become cheaper automatically from car mechanic to dentist .
I think the choice lies b/w whether we are ready to compromise our culture and values for the sake of clean hygienic life or vice versa.

This debate on what's wrong about canada, the \\\"low end jobs\\\", the conspiracy theories about how the government here plans to \\\"import cheap, but educated labor\\\", yada, yada, yada, will go on forever.
The badly written English, speaks volumes on the skills and talents of those who are behind these conspiracy thories. I would only believe that it is another case of \\\" sour grapes\\\". If you can not speak the language that the majority do, how can you integrate in society, find jobs, become prosperous? You will stop spewing venom on the \\\"ills facing Canadian society\\\", if you have the courage to introspect.
As for me, being an \\\"Upper class\\\" Hindu, I never got hired by the Government in India - despite the fact that the private sector with higher standards thought it fit to hire me for over 2 decades. Not a day passed by when I did not have to to use my \\\"influence\\\" ( I used to work for the mainstream media), or pay \\\"something, something\\\" to get things done. Life was, and still is as uncertain as it was when I left India - bandhs. hartals, the \\\" rasta roko's\\\", and so forth.
The utter contempt for cleanliness (even in the airports) speak volumes about what the \\\"quality of life\\\" is, in India - the last time around I had a cleaner at the Delhi airport ask for \\\"chai ke paise\\\". I could go on, but will that serve any purpose?
I have always maintained that if you can't succeed here, don't just give up - Life isn't easy here (and if someone told you that the roads were paved with gold, that was wrong). For every example of a \\\"highly educated person driving a cab or working in a factory\\\" I can show someone who succeeded here, throuugh hard work, \\\"can do\\\" attitude, and motto \\\"never give up\\\".
Yes each of us, could have done to eliminate corruption in India, we could have done tons of good - but we didn't because we were not politicians who wield the real power - we were too busy finding ways to survive.
I still maintain that those who complain about things in Canada, & find India better, should go back, so that they do not have a conflict between what they want, and what they have.
