Are you sure, everyone in India is getting 80k or more/month (ROTFL)?

Boss - where did I say everybody .... I speak from own perspective and from the perspective of people in the same category.

jis thali mein ....refers to anyone and everyone who is speaking ill of Canada or India just to support your being here or there.
Lets admit that there is Good and Bad everywhere , Life is not Black or White Its Grey. We all made our decisions to be here or to go back to India or to come back from India after deeply analysing our priorities of Life.

An excerpt from "Walking my own walk"
"...As it has often been said, it is in the here and the now when we begin to create our tomorrows. It means being in as constant a state of gratitude as possible. So instead of focusing on the negative of a situation for too long, I would automatically be able to see the positive take away...."

See when we are comparing things we have to bring the positives and negatives . If we are comparing India and Canada we will be bringing out the -ves . By that logic everyone on this thread is a 'jis thali mein ... ' ?

Posters - can we please get back to the OP s main thoughts . I think he has made a very pragmatic post on page 4 .

:-) Simple answer - because only very few from India - totally from India - rise up and makes a name for himself/herself globally. So we try to take pride in what is next best - be in Sunita Williams or Kalpana Chawla or Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar or Naipaul or so...

On a softer note ........ is it not true that all the Immigrants have taken an escapist route to Canada , escaping from the vagaries of Indian life (Bijli Paani Sadak ) ....

May be.. it is either escape or put up!

Is it not true that our culture WILL get compromised / converted in 2-3 generations ?

Again true... but it gets compromised/changed anyways - be it in India or outside. India we knew from our childhood and now are so different. There is so much violence going on - in the name of language, V-day, regionalism, religion... Even taking simpler things - how many movies are there these days which can be viewed as families? If you feel the DEKHTA HAI TU KYA kind songs are acceptible, that is a good indication that culture has changed - isn't it?

Is it not true that here on we are Canadians and not Indians ....... lets not try to be both for then we will be neither .

Good point... but implementing this is the toughest part... won't you agree?

Who belongs to- Jis thali me- category :D after talking all the Phd and computer science degree from India then abusing india ;), suddenly those become Kandian(check spelling).

If anyone claiming Sunita willium as Indian, then George Bush is also Indian :D

if you have guts anyone can get job in India even there is resevation and all, still there is lots of job face the compitition and get the job. earning the Phd degree will not make any one smart and intelligent.

Escaping from the problem is not the solution.

Ok lets get back to original topic

Comparing is not wrong but bringing out only -ve is. People who care to see both +ve & -ve on both sides are not jis thali mein...
Turning a blind eye towards reality is not fair. When i speak of unhygenic Govt. hosp. in India ,safety for women and all other bad things, I also talk about Nano, songs like 'Mile sur...',favourites areas of Delhi like Sarojini Nagar, UPSC etc where i grew up.
AT the same time Canada has _ve and +ve too.
Good and hygenic living conditions.Fairness in the system (not talking about politics and higher levels) to large extent and many more things.
Lack of family bondings, Lonliness and higher percentage of kids moving towards sex and drug abuse.
I compared both and hope that i will be able to impart sound values to my kids as they grow while the system here will help them make sound choices about their careers.
