A thought just occurred to me and I share this in a light mood - in pre independence era if Immigration was open , I wonder how many people would have left India on account of better pastures ............

A very well educated widely traveled citizen of Gulf once answered me upon my asking him why he did not chose UK / US to settle down when he had an opportunity -- ' My friend land and country is something people fight for ...... '

Have we not deserted India for our 'greener pastures ' ??

Many people migrate and the reason is Ease of life not the quality of life. In India for everything there is huge competition mainly because of huge population, to get any thing you have to fight with 1 billion people that's why chinese people also biggest migrants.

when people migrate abroad the level of competition reduces drastically then you compete with 30 million people as compared to 1 billion people back home so the chance of success automatically increases and chance of failure reduces.

currency conversion ratio is also sometime main reason for migration, same amount of effort here gives multiplication factor of 40/60/80 in rupees.

India is developing country so it has it own problem like any other developing country it's comparision with developed country not fair.

Long time back India was the developed country/civilization, when people in india were doing trade(Mohan jodado and Haddapa) that time people in Europe living in stone age. Every civilization has it's peak and downfall so the India does. It was looted/robbed from last 900(infact it started around 712) year by Mugal/British/french/Portuguese etc and became poor country.

more than 500 year of Muslim rule Had India been completely converted to Islam?, like Iran Egypt etc or 300 year of british rule had india converted to Christianity like Rome?, answer is No.
so it's great country to live in, it has great culture if one can understand that human life has more meaning not just meant for better road or better job opportunity.

Sometimes , even in India we change our states for jobs or better opportunity - like a North Indian moving to South India or vice versa . They come in a different culture and strata of population . The same argument of nationalism over regionalism .

Going by the same if we consider the world to be global and humanity as such why is it critical to migrate to a different country - is it because the culture gap is huge or some other reasons as well ~ its hard to change one's culture and eating habits especially if one is vegetarian.

I know I sound contradictory but thats so when something is being analyzed.
