True - in fact that speaks of the mindset of the majority of Immigrants --- why bother when even being a cabbie / janitor / security man you can have an apartment and a car ........... what about professional achievement and satisfaction ......... being a doctor you could have saved many lives and probably given more value to your own life but you choose to become a cabbie in Canada ....
My q is - whats more important - our values and culture or a comfortable physical life ............ we can't have both because the social forces are acting on us and our children 24 hours a day and they are bound to change ..... as much as their mother tongue will.... in this generation or the next. You may have no problems with your teen daughters having pre marital sex but i do and I am sure I am not the only one ......... its a part of value system I have grown up with and intend to sustain.... not compromise ....... At least in India despite all the advents conservatism reigns in major proportions.

Your question has been answered. Many of us do not see a compromise like you do. Just because its a compromise for you does not mean it is so for others.
You would be wise to heed your own feelings and take necessary steps if you feel it is indeed too much of a conundrum for you to handle. Social pressures and changing lifestyles will follow you in any metro in India as many have already mentioned.
Realize that the inability to cope with it is your personal issue and not some established wider truth that everyone has to deal with.

What about your sons? What is this about daughters only.
You obsess about it too much. Its unhealthy. You cannot control it. Whatever your idea about conservatism in India. All data says otherwise. It sounds like you have never been part of the upper class society in India that you aspire to in your musing about living as part of those communities.
You can of course lock away your kid in some remote area and throw away the keys until such time as you see fit.
