1. Canadian Govt. make Billions of FREE dollars by people looking for 'better' life, and trying to go on visit visa or Immigration visa. Around 80% of applications are rejected.
2. Once you land in Canada, you will find that your education, work experience is counted as big ZERO. You will most probably end up as truck driver, taxi driver, or factory labor worker.
3. After spending many dollars, and working under incapable white 'True' Canadian, you will be made to realize that your capability was not really worth, so thought you might have worked as technocrat in India / Middle east, you need to work under a 'True' Canadian 15 years younger and good at just giving lectures.
3a. If you can fight it out, and make your point clear that you are the best, and person taking interview is incapable (in technical manner), you may perhaps bag the job.
4. You will need to pass exams, that even and experienced 'True' Canadian will not be able to pass at age of 40 +.
5. About 90% Desis (Indians, Bangladesis, Pakistanis) end up taking odd jobs and hoping that their children will do better. They won't have time, money, energy to say that this is bull=*&&^, what is happening.
6. All high paying jobs, Govt. jobs are mostly occupied by 'True' Canadian, who are slow, lazy, good at lecturing, mostly from British origin.
7. Even South Europeans - Italians, Greeks, etc. are 2nd in list, to get proper jobs.
8. Help fellow desis if you have succeeded.

A Delhite in Toronto
Delhite, you nailed it in the centre of the head. Pretty well summed up on what I was about to compose.
Please understand people, Canada is NO India and will never become one (and vice-a-versa). To keep up with it and the jobs that it offers, one needs to upgrade whether it's academic or the soft skills. Once you have it, NO ONE could stop you. Talking from my experience of 7 years.
These days with the advent of Internet, it's much more easier to research and find the pro/cons before you take a plunge and decide on the immigration. If one doesn't do that, then the fault lies not with the Canadian Govt. but solely with the oneself.
Get up and going, groom your personality, communication and presentation skills, network, and create your up-to-date profile on Linkedin alongwith the valid recommendations. It is not a rocket science per se. The sooner it is understood, the sooner it paves the way for success. Difficult initially, but not impossible at all.
No point in blaming Canadian Govt. for the actions/decisions you take. Please don't immigrate if you have a pre-notion or as a result of your research you find out that your occupation is not regulated in Canada, e.g. Mechanical Engg., Architects, Doctors, etc.
And, I am not lecturing by the way.
Both the above cases are two sides of the coin. There is tremndous struggle and equal success for immigrants. One should take the decision based on unique situation and success criteria. No point in blaming Canadian government or system over here.

Medical - govt only gives free consulation and medicines u need to pay for...
The first 4 months after u land here - u are not covered - so if u fall sick u pay or if u visit dental - u pay. Dental not covered. Specialist appointment u get after 4 months most of the time. If u need to see a gynae - wait for 4 months.... unless of course if u know otherwise. This is bad in Canada. So the day u land - its safe to opt for a medical insurance just incase... like I have to pull out a tooth with surgery and it cost me 700 CAD.. + medicines... read more on this too...
Here job postings are quite funny actually - read a simple job posting for a Receptionist - and see the description - u will need to answer phones, be admin, do the books- jack of all trade for a receptionist salaries.
Office timings - be aware - some companies ask u to put it late hours.. u will know when u go for interview - they never tell u in the advert.
Be smart - plan well - then u can survive..
Basically Canada is not a piece of cake whatever people say - u will learn, there will be no help from friends, they all expect u to go thro the same bad phase as they have been.
The problem with us human beings is we tend to take things for granted when we are at a place and only get to highlight the negatives ..... When we were in India we found the ngatives of India , then wehen we came out we realized that there were goodies in India also as we decide to relocate back ....
Medical & Education : You should be happy that you are in Canada . True drugs are not covered , but every thing else is and even if you can't afford the drugs there are Plans like Trillium which cover for you if you are uninsured .
If you are diagnosed with major disease/s , the medicare pays for it ... all the therapy and everything .... I guess one needs to live in the US , unemployed and uninsured to discover the value of this blessing here ....
4 months of non coverage ... Can you back up your info with a link ??? Ontario needs 3 months and then from 1st day you are covered .. Provinces like NS , AB etc cover you from day one with no waiting period ....
Education ..... Again as human beings , we tend to belittle what ever is given to us for free ... I spoke recently with an acquaintance who is 13 yrs old has studies in India , Bahrain , Abu Dhabi and now here and he was all appreciation of the teachers here taking pains to explain doubts & concepts .... The education is there available ....... its up to you as well as to how much you can benefit ..
Lastly for jobs , its your own skill & competence also which dictates how much you are getting ........... Does not mean everyone is on $10/hr jobs or on welfare ..... And yes you have welfare and subsidies unlike elsewhere in case you are not able to do well on your own .... Doubt if you have that in India or the Middle East !!!

What you said seems true but not practically happening.
Medical- Healthcare is free? A big chunk of my tax goes to health Canada. Unless you are not dyeing or in emergency, you will wait,wait.. to get any treatments. Saying that healthcare is free and providing it at the right time are two different things. 5 million people in Canada have no family doctor but they have to pay health tax and they cannot deny it.
Education - It is free up to school level, but 12th grade here is equivalent to 5th grade level in India. Then what is of use if your kid cannot compete in future. Yes, if you are in university then you may buy facilities by paying high tuition fees which you can do in any part of the world. Have you seen foreign students coming to Canada to get school education or research institutes? Most of the students just come here to get entry and education is not their motive. If govt. tell them that they have to return back after education then I doubt that anyone will come. This is one way of generating money to keep the economy going.
I agree that US has many universities which provide high quality education if you are coming for your Masters or PhDs.
I do not agree that skill and education are the only factors to get the job. If that is the case then who will drive the taxi and become drivers.
