Just a question. Is this any different than those' loads of' people who are originally from Canada that 'cant do anything with their lives' ..so they blame the government..the system..the health care etc..

I think its hard to generalize to immigrants shifting the blame. Born citizens may not be any better.

and before u say anything..i do like cheese with my whine :D

Manasvi

Have you figured out the difference between 'onboard' and 'overboard'.:D

Don't know why you insist on making personal comments!

As far as you are concerned, you remind me of the loads of pathetic people who come to Canada, can't do anything with their lives, so bad mouth the whole country.

You're a classic case of sour grapes!

I agree... I love Canada because its my home. I have heard the 'hatred' from websites/other people but I want to learn about their experiences instead of just inciting further anger and frustration. You can show the other side of the coin in many ways.

I agree too. :)
Crenshaw has chosen his way...you have chosen yours. I like both your styles :D .

Unlike you, Crenshaw and me are immigrants, who maybe less sympathetic to *what we see* as irrational whining. I also agree with you that some of the whining is justified...so I dont hold it against people(anymore) that they do so.

At the end of the day its just different perspectives(depending on where you are as a person). Its probably not half as important(or RIGHT) as any of us(on any which side) think it to be.

That's life :D

Looks like I missed out on some of the fun this morning;)....hey kabeer

I’ll agree with what Jake posted. People like him and I, being new immigrants ourselves, (late edit: speaking for myself) are unsympathetic to irrational whining. I probably have a very low tolerance level, primarily because I’m an immigrant in the past 2 years and know first hand that the systemic problems commonly cited can be overcome by adequate knowledge and the right preparation, before landing. What often can’t be overcome, is a resistance to the change that is required to adapt to a different socio-cultural environment and (often) different work practices.

Sites such as this one, should serve such a purpose (of being a source of information relevant to an immigrant). However, what actually happens in practice is that a few people band together and find it quite convenient to make it appear that their personal failings are the failings of the system as a whole. Others, who have left Canada either back to India or to jobs in the Middle East, jump in, looking for honorable reasons to justify decisions that they have taken (or were forced to make). We end up with a cacophony of irrational statements, such as the one made by the OP that got this thread going.

What I find particularly repulsive is statements that suggest that ONLY people who were ‘zilch’ professionaly in India or elsewhere ‘SHOULD’ immigrate to Canada or that ONLY people who are ‘zilch’ immigrate to Canada. I also dislike the suggestion that ALL immigrants get stuck in dead-end jobs the moment they arrive in Canada. Certainly does not reflect reality, most definitely not where I come from!

I agree with you. Plus, what purpose does whining or blaming the system serve? Havent we all doing the same about the system in India.

Airing ones opinion is another thing, but constant whining and negative attitude is taking it a bit too far. Just get on with the program.

I got another perspective from a businessman, widely travelled, been to Canada often and is currently in India. He had his biz for about a decade in the ME too. What he mentioned was that many ppl who cannot make a decent living in India, make a lot of cash in the ME, where the competition is not that tough. They then hope to repeat this success in Canada, and blame the place when they fail, little acknowledging that they did not get very far in India itself.

I do not agree with the guy completely, but like I said before... perspective is king.

At any given time, anywhere in the world, a significant number of people are whining (i.e. diagreeing). thats how democracies work.

So now the Tories have been whining for the last 10+ years (always have been around 30% of the voting public), same in Englnad. the congress was whining while the BJP was in power and vice versa. The Democrats have been whining since 2000 elections (seems like they will be doing this for some time:D ), the republicans whined like bitch*es during clintons 8 years.

See whining is not that bad. it forms the basis for social change.
Besides its much more interesting, else it will be just a gorup of people agreeing all the time. A reak circle jerk.

What say you, crenshaw?;)
