Hi
When I came to Canada, I attended the career fair at the Metro Toronto Convention center and it has helped me to connect with different recruitment agencies quickly. The upcoming fair is no exception. There are several top class companies participating in the fair. Please note that the companies do not just collect the resumes. As a hiring manager my self, I can assure you that the HR personnel assigned to the event forwards the resumes "collected" to the appropriate hiring manager. If you want to blame some body, it would be the hiring manager. My company routinely sends some Director level people to the events as well. Please find below the link to the fair for pre-registration. Thanks
Regards,
Jay

Thank you for the info. That prepares me for the fair. Now I shall go prepared with the info on the organisations I am interested in. One more doubt, it may sound naive :
dress code - needless to say it has be a suit or a blazer?
And I liked the mela example.
Consider going to the Mela. You have stalls out there. This is the same thing. There are stalls aka booths of various organizations. Go directly to the ones you're interested. They'll either -
1. Take you resume and tell you that they'll get in-touch with you (this will happen only if they're really crowded)
2. Look at your resume and speak to you for a few minutes, again depends on how crowded they are and if they're interested in your skill.
3. Look at your resume and speak to you at length
Remember you get only a few minutes to impress upon them. So be at your best, dress up well. Wait times tend to vary a lot, could be anywhere from 5 minutes to 30 minutes (I guessing here). But if you're really interested in the organization, be prepared to wait.
Try reaching early for the following reasons -
1. 1st thing in the morning everyone's fresh. At the end of the day they're all tired and just wat to get out from there
2. Beat the crowd
3. Gives you time to look around and short-list the organizations which interest you. You should have already done that. The list is normally available at their website

Kindly give me more info regarding the jobfair, where and when. I am new to canada and kindly staying in mississauga and looking for some job especially clerical or data entry
One more job fair.

You mentioned that you are in Mississauga. I think you are looking for clerical or data entry job. The best way is to make a resume, with minimum degrees from back home, show some work experience in Canada, and give 2 references from your friends circle.
Contact as many companies/shops/offices in 2 square mile radius from your current residence. Just make about 100 xerox copies of your resume with your contact phone number and mention that you are willing to work part time also. Just drop into all the places around your residence, do not feel shy, walk into the place and ask for the manager (if they say he is not available) pass your resume to the receptionist with a kind request to her asking her to pass it on to the HR or the hiring person. I know a Chinese guy who did this and he got 4 calls with in 2 days and he is currently working in one location. The advantage you have is that you are close to your work spot, you can walk to the place. You do not need a car or spend on insurance or bus ticket. You pick up valuable work experience and future references and at the same time you are not spending time on commute which costs you money. This time you could spend on computer or looking for other jobs.
Please look up the mississauga news on fridays. Please check up on the JOB Bank of the HRDC also.Have a friendly name like BOB or something for them to be able to address you better. This is the right time for you to get a job and may be not the job.
Have you contacted Keith Bagg in the same building as Apple One across CIBC near Walmart in Square One.They do place people on data entry and other jobs. They will get you on for 3 months to start with. They will test your alpha numerical speed on computer and also your language skills. Get an appointment with them and also practise before you go to them.
Good Luck and Best Regards !

Speech by Thomas Friedman of The New York Times....
"When we were young kids growing up in America, we were told to eat our
vegetables at dinner and not leave them. Mothers said, 'think of the
starving children in India and finish the dinner.' And now I tell my
children: 'Finish your maths homework. Think of the children in India
who would make you starve, if you don't.'"

And further more :
if possible, please print them on scented papers. The chances of you getting a job will be more based on that ( for it make a good impression).
And use a good deodrant before meeting up with the receptionist or HR manager.
Dress very decently before giving resumes in a cold fashion. You never know. Sometimes the owner of the company is at the reception (like my boss) and it may click.
if you donot have such traits, please send your resume by fax or e-mail.
First impression is the best impression.

sidenote : When i was called for an interview in my professional office, I was to go to The factory after that. So i went in Steel toed boots and a dirty shirt and pant. I got the job at $10 an hour. Donot make the mistake as me. Dress well is what i mean. I got the job by fluke. When i went for the interview, i did not know that it was for a professional position
