If you can provide me the text content of the affidavit it will be very helpful.
Don't provide the personal details of your parents..
I just want to get it done without any future troubles...I am already running late for the 90 day frame period (I received letter on Nov 25th)
Since your application has been already approved by CIC, I can surely follow on your footprints.
I can provide my email if you feel uncomfirtable here on CD.
Thanks RBO

I am in the same boat, My parents also don't have birth certificates.
I received the same letter dated on Nov 25th, Since I was out of country until mid Jan, I have not sent anything to CIC yet....
Let me share what I have dug so far regarding birth certificates for our parents.
Birth registration was not usual practise in their time.
I spoke with a lawyer in India and this is what he adviced. This is for Gujarat but I assume it should be similar in other states as well.
Lawyer can make a notarized affidavit for birth certificate only after we provide him "no record found" certificate from the relavant authority (talati or panchayat) where parents were born. So ask your parents to go and try to get a brith certificate (if it was recorded at the time of their birth) from the resposible authority in their town/village. If they can not issue one, ask them to give you "No Record Found" certificate for you and bring this to your laywer and he/she will make notarized affidavit for birth certificate.
I asked RBO to provide more details on how he got it for his parents but I haven't heard anything from him so I thought to share my experience.
I am sure there are few other members whose parents don't have birth certis.. Hope this will help you guys.
Please post about how you are getting birth certis for your parents.
Just write letter to CIC that at that period of time - birth were not registered. Given them example of current head of staff of armed forces of India, doesn't also have this.
Ask them to give you alternatives that you can use. Even today millions of people in poor countries born without a birth certificate.
For example, go to a village in Amazon (Brazil), indians [natives] born without birth cert. One of those kids eventually does well in life and applies to immigrate to Canada.
So, CIC has to provide alternatives and acknowledge reality of life around the world.
If you don't know what to write copy the above in your letter

Does someone know (for sure), if CIC accepts the CBSE board's 10th class certificate in lieu of the Birth cert? It has the date of birth as well as my father's name mentioned. This is what I have always been provided whenever the proof of DoB was required.
Also, another question. My parents are in Canada on a visitor visa. Should I mention their current residence in Canada or India?
