Can I put USA instead of India for visa process in application
My dad is living with in Canada from one yrs and indian passport

I got the letter asing to get the medical and send the PCC and proof of relationship to sponsor today. I had applied for eligibility to sponsorship in sept 2007. I am bit surprised that without eligibility to sponsor they are asking for the papers.
Couple of questions:
Proof of sponsorship: In my OCI card last/surname is not printed, will that work?
PCC : I guess has to get from India and canada as my mother stayed for abt 2 yrs in canada
Medical exam: Is it easier to get it india or canada?

Will appreciate responses

FYI - my online status has two records now for some strange reason - both say application received but the second one also says "PR Status: Application received"

Not sure what this means but sharing with everyone.

You cannot, as your father needs to show that he was eligible to live in US for min. 1 year and thats not possible with tourist visa since they only give 6 months max, and then extend if request is made

Update: Today both lines have merged into one but still says application received (no approval or denial status)

I have called CIC a couple of times on single queries and have received different answers each time - jitnay munh utnee batain..

Some say Ottawa processing timelines are faster than homeoffice, others deny this.

Also some CIC agents have advised that online status is updated weekly only on Tuesdays...in my case the status updates were never on a Tuesday..
