Will keep you updated how my move materializes, the going so far (keep in mind I am in Chandigarh):

Congrats on making the move to India. It was good to see your latest updates to help CD's make the R2I decision, if they ever have to.

I would suggest that you create a separate thread so that we can follow your experiences.

Best wishes,

Rajagopal.

crish - you never actually moved to Canada, right? Since you did not take your family to Canada.

And you also say that once children start living in Canada, then it will be difficult for you to return to return to India.

That being the case, you are projecting a wrong image for people in Canada - you have to compare apples to apples - for someone who was leading a good life in Canada with job and family - will he be able to return to India?

Drop out dude,
The OP was in a good position. However due to personal reasons he moved to India. what did you not understand in that.
People coming to Canada vary. Common reason for people to relocate back to India are as follows :

1. Parents getting old. Having good properties. Parents not liking to come to Canada.
2. Children getting spoilt at school
3. India shining.
4. Lack of proper jobs in Canada. Too many layoff's. Economy not good and not growing as much.
5. Lack of social life (celebrating festivals, seeing unknow people in the eye)
6. Less savings (this what prompts gents to stay in the Gulf and let the ladies in Canada along with their children).

I am sure that Canada also has positives.

So what did you not understand,? and what was not compared apples to apples ?

Simple TK - whether the guy was in a great job or not - the fact remains he never really moved to Canada in the true sense. He kept his family in India(as I understand from his posts - correct me if I am wrong) who perhaps came to visit him in vacations. So when he himself went back to India, it was not moving back - since he simply spent some time in Canada trying to gauge whether the family can or should be moved.

As for your 6 points for reasons to move back to India - I would agree to only the first - where the parents might not like, even if the child was in a absolutely enviable position in Canada, and I personally have some friends of this kind whose parents prefer to live here in India.

Children getting spoilt at school in Canada - you mean they do not get spoilt in India?? And I have quit a few friends from my home town who live in US and Canada whose children are doing extremely well - many of them much better than the parents (I know how 'lafadi' my friends were when they were in India!!)

Lack of social life in Canada? Well from the facebook updates and e-mails etc. I feel my friends in Canada have a much active social life than my friends and family in India. Same goes for celebrating festivals - in India people shun from celebrating Holi, they do not have nice get togethers on Diwali, but friends in Canada and US are full of life on these occasions and celebrate it with so many friends and relations.

Lack of savings in Canada? Well, I have both kinds of friends and relatives in India - and some of them can hardly meet their monthly expenses and have to cut off so many expenses (some of them to save for the dowry that they have provide for their daughters) - so I think that depends on your own capacities to earn. I have tons of friends in the west who live in big houses, throw grand parties, spend a lot on holidays around the world, drive fancy cars etc.

In a nutshell - only parents not wanting to shift out of India is the valid point - not others.

Drop out:
You have your own point of view and I have mine.
Let them who accept accept it and that you donot accept it , donot accept it.
We will keep conversations non toxic and decent.
You like Canada, fine. I respect your decision. I am just pointing out what I saw wrong and what the crowd that I was in saw was bad.
I would take all postings saying that usage of food banks as wrong with a pinch of salt.
I was in conversation with a software engineer who had worked in Citi Bank New York and migrated to Canada due to visa issues.
He shopped in the $ store for a muffler. He invited us (some 5 people) for a party at a buffet and paid only for his own meal. I am sure that many who are against food banks, will silently go in secret to use food banks.
