A bit of reality before going to Canada............
1. If you are working in a managerial position in Dxb - you will be disappointed going to Canada
2. If you are in Engg field working for Oil co. in Dxb/AD - u will be disappointed
3. If you are working in private co, still earning Dhs 10k plus, u will be disappointed
4. If you are an average graduate looking for a white collar job in Canada - u will be disappointed
5. If you are a competent person with SOFT skills - you will succeed
6. If you are a blue collar worker - u will succeed
7. If you are in labor category in Dxb - you are going to land in heaven
8. If you are not so competent but willing to do anything, you will succeed in Canada
9. If you are used to the luxury of Dubai - you will be disappointed
10 to 20% may be exception to what I said.........remaining is reality...
Just my 2 cents !@@##$$

Hi to all...
Hi All,
Though my immigration papers have still not been processed, I have landed in Montreal (from good ol' AUH) on 16th Nov.
After applying for the migration, I started searching around for jobs in Canada and the lady luck smiled upon me.
I have landed here on a work permit and the company has even sponsored my move (rellocation) from AUH (shipping of goods/air tickets / getting SIN /opening bank a/c, getting the health insurance card etc).
Had the first snowfall of the season yesterday.... it was fun.
In terms of lifestyle .. it is very different here. Stores/malls close at around 7 pm on Monday/tues/wed. Thrus/Friday they open till 9. Again on sat/sunday everything (apart from rest/bars) closes at 5 in the evening.
Cell services are very different (expensive??) than our good Etisalat ...... incoming calls can also be charged depending upon the package you choose.
Banking is also different. There we have RAK Bank offering Titanium cards for no fee and zero interest .... here any bank will charge 11 to 20 percent interest in case of late payment. Each transaction (ATM/cash withdrawal ... use of debit card) is charged.
very difficult to get a credit card without a credit history. I was lucky that my company helped me open an a/c otherwise even that may prove to be tough.
is it worth making the move .... well my wife and i will compare everyday life and keep u all posted
cheers.
HiVand3matarm
