I doubt the cops have released the entire letter. I believe they have released only the excerpts.
When both work in responsible positions, they need to be given freedom to make their own choice / decisions. When they make good money, work away from their home town/parents and have social freedom, things could go any way. May be the lady was not interested in the arranged marriage. Truth may never come out.
As E. Tolle puts it “some marriages are thought to be made in heaven; actually they are made in hell”. In so many cases husband and wife put an act together for the society. I know couples who are frustrated / pi**ed off with each other, but they are stuck in the rut. Adding kids to the scenario, married life is a hell for them.
I agree with you desi in ottawa to some extent but that makes me wonder what has led to increase in frustration levels. Is it the education, awareness about one's rights, financial independence or something else.
To me all couples have differences and some may have a past but some of them start ignoring or compromising in order to sustain their marriage which might be driven by various factors including family reputation, pressure from parents or children. Those who do not have patience or are lured by options out of the relation chose to move out.
The point is Marriage is no more a taken for granted relation and continous effort from both sides is the only key to a life long relation.
Well, it’s an individual choice. If they see that the life is passing by them and are unable to live life, constantly fighting with each other, frustrated, angry, etc. what type of life is that? If a relationship comes with a warranty card that says change if it does not work, then it’s a different ballgame.

Values and a level of maturity have a lot to play in such situations ---- how much the scenario would change if it were Canada / US OR / AND if they were in mid 40s probably in their 2nd marriages ........ maturity comes with age and experience .
Recently I came across a news from India in which a 21 year old killed his 45 year old widow mother on account of her illicit relationships ----- wonder how correct was it on his part to take some ones life ?? ...... sorry for the digression but I feel things and circumstances are carved out by the values of the society we live in --- a DPS RK Puram incident became a national news in India and I am sure here in Canada it would not even be an eyebrow raiser .
